Artist: Chicadania

Chicadania approached muralism after spending most of her artistic life devoted to sculpture. It was in 2017, when she immersed herself into large format painting and discovered her true potential, when she took part in the first Festival Distrito Graffiti in Bogotá.

After so many years, she had eventually arrived to explore a new language, painting the portraits of her children. Thinking of giving a more original and personal meaning to her murals, she decided to make up and portray them, painting their faces and taking pictures of them playing with their superhero pajamas or just interacting.

Other Chicadania works have covered the women universe, working with other female artists from different fields to create new atmospheres of the feminine universe. She always paints her friends or her children, with the purpose of opening a dialogue between women from art.

Embracing kitsch language of Colombian popular culture, Dania began her artistic career with the first experimental works of hers, mixing medias, colors and materials. Her style would evolve towards a more personal language as a result of purification and blooming of her own style.

Chicadania has taken part in Urbanmorphogenesis International Mural Festival (Moscow), Juntas Hacemos Mas (Mexico), Akumal art festival, Basel House Festival (Miami) or UPAW (Monaco) and has comissioned works for The Street Art Museum Amsterdam (SAMA).

Born in Paris (France), she lived her first years in Paris and then moved to her family country, Colombia. There, she studied at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University (Bogotá), where she carried out half career of Plastic Arts. She then traveled to Europe where she resumed her Arts studies. Plastics at the University of Barcelona and she graduated in 2007. In 2013 she completed a postgraduate in Art Direction at the University School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona (Elisava) and in 2017, a Master in Contemporary Culture at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
